It seems that DOJ is investigating Google for their foray into the digital book market.  It has been reported that the DOJ is reviewing a settlement between Google and publishers regarding Google’s digital book scanning business and that parts of the settlement may violate the Sherman Anti-trust Act of 1890, which seeks to investigate cartels and monopolies, the basis of the Act was the Standard Oil case of 1879.  Rivals are basically complaining but Google response is that if you want into the market, then get into the market; Microsoft previously tried and retreated.  Well, digital books are certainly great if you own an Amazon Kindle, but why not just watch a fantastic Blu-ray movie on a Blu-ray Disc Player instead?

Good news for Blu-ray, sales are rising amid a gloomy economy.  The economy now, though, is showing signs of improving and this would be further good news for the Blu-ray Disc Player makers like LG, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, and Denon.  It was not too long ago that I would walk into Target and browser all of the DVDs and notice only a few Blu-ray discs, thinking to myself that the Blu-ray might go the way of Sony’s Beta vhs format.  Not to be the case, Blu-rays are perfect with HDTVs and will now lead the way to the preeminent viewing experience for consumers at home.  Awareness of Blu-ray Disc Players are improving too, anectdotal evidence suggests this.
